Founded in 2020 by a group of passionate conservationists and outdoor enthusiasts, MimzSubvert emerged from a simple yet powerful vision: to showcase Romania's untouched natural beauty while actively protecting it for future generations. Our name reflects our mission to 'subvert' traditional tourism models that often harm the environment.
The idea was born during a research expedition in the Carpathian Mountains, where our founders witnessed both the breathtaking biodiversity of Romania's wilderness and the urgent need for its protection. We saw an opportunity to create a sustainable tourism model that would generate income for local communities while funding conservation efforts.
Starting with just three eco-lodges and a team of five dedicated guides, we have grown into Romania's leading eco-tourism operator. Today, we manage over 15 sustainable accommodations across the country, employ more than 50 local guides and conservationists, and have contributed to the protection of over 50,000 hectares of wilderness.
Our approach combines cutting-edge environmental science with traditional Romanian hospitality, creating unique experiences that connect visitors with nature while supporting local ecosystems and communities. Every tour we offer, every lodge we operate, and every partnership we form is designed with one goal in mind: proving that tourism can be a force for environmental good.
